School Visits

I’ve been doing school visits for over three years now, and they’re my favorite part of being an author. I love getting the chance to talk to young people about the things that interest them, about their ideas, and about their favorite books. It’s one of the most invigorating and inspiring things I think an author can do. I always am bursting with ideas after!

So far, I’ve visited public schools, private schools, libraries, after school clubs like Gay Straight Alliances, and even colleges. I’d love the opportunity to visit and connect with students, teachers, librarians, and non-profit organizations. I can do presentations on topics such as writing, my journey to publication, becoming an author at a young age, and the important impact LGBTQ narratives play for young people.

Presentations run approximately forty five minutes, and leave time for questions and a signing. My favorite visits are the more informal question/answer sessions with students.
