BANNED BOOKS PANEL WITH PEN AMERICA

  • Marlene Meyerson JCC Manhattan 334 Amsterdam Ave New York, NY 10023 (map)

Jonathan Friedman, director of free expression and education programs at PEN America, the preeminent organization fighting against book banning, is joined by frequently-banned authors David Levithan and Camryn Garrett in a timely and important panel discussion.

The authors exemplify the spectrum of modern book banning. David Levithan is a prolific YA author whose first book was published 25 years ago. He’s written dozens, including the oft-banned Two Boys Kissing. Camryn Garrett published her first book, Full Disclosure, about a Black teenager born with HIV, in 2019 with her most recent book, Friday I’m in Love, published just last month.

Proceeds from the event will be donated to PEN America to support the freedom to write, read, and learn.
